so, just to check,
no one has a magnet option for the engine oil or gear box? filtermag was mentioned but is no good, due to the plastic filter housing on the puma. |

It appears some have magnetic plugs on their gearbox but not the transfer box Usual parts inconsistency at the factory then |

http://shop.motorsport-developments.co.uk/...-343-p.asp If you call them ask for Steve, he was very helpful, tell him Mark sent you P.S. this is the size for the 2.4 puma engine, don't know about any others. HTH Mark |

You'd have thought that landrover might just have had an idea when they decided to put a magnetic one for the box and decided the others didnt need one. What do you know better that landrover doesnt?

Hydrocarbons (oils) and warm destroy 99% of glues....... If you loose the magnet and it sticky on gears you can broke all the gears!!!!! Put the magnetic plugs on transfer box and both the diffs..... Stay w/o mag plugs on gearbox and sump, it is better!!!!! Normally the magnetics plugs have a screw for fix well the magnet!!!! Or there are only few epoxy resin glues that resist at warm ad oils and it work with catalysator. And, normally, magnets have plain surface, very hard to fix with glue..... my 2 cents or use the double cab happy link ones..... On the sump I installed the quick drain plug from difflock, nice to change the oil w/o pain and w/o remove the entreq protection plate..... All i know is that my transfair box had a little pile of metal filings on its mag plug when I did the oil change, I also know that filtermag will not work on the plastic filter case, and i know I will be keeping this vehical for a long time with any luck, so
I guess Im saying is, it can't hurt. Mark |

And, at least, on the engine sump it is not important to use a magnetic plug you have a filter on the circuit.
Magnetic plugs are good where you can't use a filter Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition IID Pro MV License |

On the outside of course
As I mentioned, there are 2 big magnets inside the gearbox casing to do the job. Really no need to add more. [quote="dgardel"]
