Caravan and exhaust problem
All

Another tin tenter here!
Got a 110 dc towing a elddiss avante, tows great with a dixon bate tow hitch to lower it a bit.
Minor niggle i wonderif anyone else has , the exhaust from the 110 blows its black sooty Censored onto the front of the van and its a pain in the arse to have to clean every time.
Does anyone know if theres and exhaust downturn bit to stick on the end to face the exhaust down as per my old 110 tdi?
No theres nothing wrong with the truck its just the normal soot and water condensation when cold.

Ive wondered about this also, in previous years weve only caravanned 3/4 times a year so havent really noticed any soot stains but we will be using our new van frequently so im expecting them Shocked

Following my rebuild I havent refitted my mud flaps yet so my main problem is muck being flung onto the front of my van from the rear wheels. Ive got a galv chassis and im reluctant to drill fixing holes into it, bit its something I need to do. Finding genuine mud flaps for a 110 with the Land Rover logo isnt easy either.

Bigfog has a very tidy mod to his exhaust, he has it coming out the the rear quarter panel.

I have ordered one of these covers from ProTec. Looks an OK way of protecting the front of the van whilst towing Thumbs Up

Lorryman I've got one of those covers too. Although its another one of those pre -trip jobs to do it protects the windows from stray stones. But the main reason I use it is because its great to turn up at a site without the front of the van covered in dead flies and gunge Thumbs Up

That was my thinking before I ordered it rossy. With wider tyres fitted on my Puma the van gets very muddy in the wet and in the summer time there are always loads of tar spots along with the multiple insect species splattered everywhere.

We've got a Protec cover for the front of our Bailey Pegasus, primarily to prevent dings in the aluminium front panel. It's pretty good at keeping it clean from mud and general road dirt too, although I've found that with prolonged use exhaust soot does eventually make its' way through. I plan to try proofing it with Fabsil before using it in anger again this year. Darren

Great idea, never seen one of those before Thumbs Up As well as flies dirt etc all my old caravans had a lot of stone chips on the front which knocks the resale value down...

Neither has the Pegasus, but they make a version that allows for it. Give them a call - they're very helpful. Darren

I'm OK....C+E. I passed my test in 1985. IIRC if you passed your test pre 1997 you automatically get B+E entitlement? Thumbs Up
