Oh what was I thinking Brendan....
![]() ![]() That link on my last post was the most up to date offical documentation I could find which looks like there is very little chance of being pulled over because one if fitted to a vehicle. Or is it just how one interprets the (lack) of information available? ![]() |

Remember lots of laws associated with driving are about as clear as mud!
A towing system not type approved perfectly legal on one vehicle, definitely illegal on another! Roo bars are perfectly legal in Australia, however there is a movement to ban them. However roos are the cause of several deaths and lots of damage each year. Hmmmm Brendan |

There was an inquiry into bars due to the European legislation, but this has been knocked on the head, as Bull/Roo/Winch bars do much more good than harm here. Kris |

The Bar in question at start of thread is one Land Rover show in Microcat. These were for sale on ebay not too long ago buy company in Hinckley.
I'm looking to fit a Douglass one or even a n ARB if I can get hold of one for air con vehicle and hydraulic winch. |

I was at Douglas motors a couple of months ago and had a butchers around their bumper. It looks good but I must say that the Arb just looks more solid. Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

I met with a manager, from DVLA, who said that as the Defender is a utility vehicle then it would be permissible to have a bulbar fitted. If it was an Escort, then no.

That might explain why the odd Transit van has one. Looks daft though!

Interesting, Merlin. Was that meeting arranged specifically to ask this or was it a question asked in passing? |
