I had this happen after 50 000km - LR dealer would lubricate it, it would fix it for several months but come back. Eventually they replaced the entire pedal assembly....that was the only fix that lasted....

Mine has it's own cure..............every so often the master cylinder leaks, first shown by a drip of fluid on the top of your boot and then a fluid mark on the mat. If the mark is added to over 2 days then I need to top up the reservoir otherwis it just dries up and you leave it, very much"If it 'aint broke then don't fix it". My 90 used to drive me mad with its squeak and had to be manually lubed every month

My current Puma pedal has suffered from a squeaky pedal every now and again especially before the spring decided to ping off the pedal some months ago. There is a plastic sleeve in the pedal in which the spring sits, the last time it started to squeak I just put a drop of thick oil on it and it's been fine ever since but it is one of the things on my warranty list the next time it goes in for a service Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Had exactly the same problem. Whatever I lubricated it with it would still squeak. At the 12k service they said they couldn't get it to do it. Once I'd told them 'rubbish, it does it EVERY time', they went away and fixed it. They just lubricated it but I've no idea what with. That was 1000+ miles ago and it's fine still. D300 HSE 110

I bet they used lithium spray grease. That stuff gets everywhere and stays there. All dealers use it to shut people up and make them go away (a Mitsubishi main dealer mechanic told me that !)
