Sorry I have tried but the exact details seem a bit confusing so I would rather not say anything than confuse the issue if you know what i mean. I'm sure your dealer will have the info. If not then get them to call LR. |

No problems, I'll let you know what happens. From speaking to the service engineer at the dealership he admits there is an update to do to the new Defender, which is encouraging. Thanks |

Mines been into the dealers now and this is what happened. A couple of guys there took it for a test run and both said that they found no fault whatsoever with the transmission, they did say though that they thought the instrument cluster was set up incorrectly for the size of wheels/tyres. Following the update there is no change to the gear change.
I may go back and insist to go on the test drive with them, I dont think the gear change is so bad when driving around town. It is more predominent when you get onto and open road when trying to progress through the gears. Referring back to the instrument cluster update, I think this actually needed doing as the alloy wheels and 235/86/16 fitted to mine were taken off my old 300Tdi, this was part of my trade in deal. My defender came as a standard X (not XS) with electric windows etc but no alloys or AC meaning that the original stell wheels were slightly smaller, does that make sense???? |

All the 07 Defs we have in for tuning suffer from this delay when either accelerating or coming off the throttle. It can be improved slightly with remapping but it is just a characteristic of the engine and variable vane turbo. I find that CAT removal improves matters. The 07 has a solid flywheel so no wories there.

Cheers Andy, that puts my mind at rest. I've also started changing gear at 2.5k rpms which has improved things no end. I'd like to come down to your's for a few treats (intercooler, remap etc) but I'm a bit worried about the warranty, whats your take on this mate? |

Certainly, we find that the power is all done by 3k rpm really so short shifting is the way to get them to go. As for warranty I would have to say that ANY mod CAN be a problem, however the remap is invisible, free flow air filters, DECAT pipes, speed limiters dont seem to cause problems for the dealers. The intercooler, particularly if non AC is somewhat obvious, although intercooler is not visible on AC models. We do actually sell parts to dealers direct although they will never advertise the fact! I find that if a dealer is actually in to LR's then they are happy to overlook mods, but if they are just salesmen who do the rounds of different dealers, then they don't understand!
