Yesterday I jump started my neighbours Sherpa van and acted as a Dads taxi(again )Today I took the boys to the Autojumble at Malvern. I must say I was impressed with the turnout, saw a few old friends and had an enjoyable time. Picked up a couple of bumperettes off a chap from Merthyr at a reasonable price and picked up a couple of greasable trackrod ends, one of which has got to go on straight away......was an advisory at the MOT

Yep they'd fit a Puma, I tried one against one that was parked outside the door. The thing was that something was niggling away in the back of my mind, when I got back to mine the first thing I noticed that mine has a pair of those fancy Torx headed bolts just where one of the fixing points on the bumperette are at least it's not beyond my capabilities to modify the things, a pain but hey ho the joys of LR ownership. I have some other ideas but will just sit and ponder before I start cutting anything up just yet.

Brendan.
I don't understand the steel as a spare when the rest are alloy . I'm sure you have a good reason. I don't understand why you WANT to run a steel spare but I know that you NEED to carry the correct nuts for the spare WANTS and NEEDS and all that Sorry couldn't resist 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Yep a male bird up on my part.
At least I am prepared to admit my mistakes A wise man learns from other peoples mistakes, a sensible man learns from his mistake, a fool never learns from his mistake. Yes a few more steel nuts are now on the need list and should be sorted tomorrow Brendan |

Sad day was given a Freelander as a courtesy car. I tried to like it but just walking up to it's boring M&S, beige looks put me off (they have done a great job styling the rest of the range what happened to this thing!) open the door to a lot of cheap hard smooth plastic, sit on it rather than in it, knee hits centre column (doesn't with me in Defender and no mud rails!) get hold of nasty thin small plastic steering wheel (meant to be leather 70% placcy though ) start up with a load of gimmicks and the ride is just horrible hard and fidgety (my old SAAB much nicer!) and topping it all off is the fact that it is automatic... I haven't driven a car I dislike so much in a long time....the dealership even joke about them...and how much are they I've parked it around the corner!
& refuse to put a picture up of it! Looked at the Evoque properly for the first time Now were talking |

Got cut off on my way to work by a couple young dudes in an Evogue (All windows down even with it 0 degrees outside ) with a set of aftermarket wheels that looked bigger than the car itself. Got to a busy round-a-bout and who did i pull up nxt to ? Yup, same boys eyeing up my 110. The guy driving gave it a little beep so i looked over to find him asking me to roll down the window. Rolled the window down and the guy said "nice motor where did you get it?". Told him where i got it and then said "Hey you know they are right about guys that drive Evogues, they are all posing inconsiderate pricks " !
Sorry for anyone with an Evogue, it is an ok looking motor, but it just screams out POSER to me (maybe it just the guys driving them out here that makes up my mind on the car ! Each to there own i guess though |

Took tyre in for repair, apparently a side wall split by one of the tread blocks. Unrepairable.
Bit of a bummer as it is BFG M/T with plenty of tread dept left. Ho hum think it will be a swop of tyres from one of the spare rims coming on. Brendan |

Having previously spent a day fitting a new aerial to the roof rack to improve my radio reception, the end result was worse then before I started ...
so today bought a new wing mounted aerial for less than £10 and earthed it to the bulkhead - totally cured the problem ! - one thing I did do at the same time was to add an extension cable from the radio though the bulkhead that will mean an easy change in the future should I need to .... easy fix! Fitted our V bars the roof rack to carry our racing K1 canoes about for some winter training whilst the canal is still free of ice! cooooool! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |
