Loads of concerns in our experience! ours has to be taken off as well, all i can say is that they do get there eventually if you push them!

A dealer removing and re-fitting the entire dashboard... -shudder-
I had the centre panel of mine replaced after the dealer scratched it to just removing and re-fitting only the stereo. Then the replaced panel kept popping out so in the end I just decided to remove the stereo myself everytime it went in for more work. 2007 Defender 110 1970 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV |

All the dash?
Looks a little bit too much. What kind of repair they like to do? In my old car they try to remove all the dash to have access to the heater interchange radiator when was only necessary to remove 2 bolts in the motor side... The whole dash had to come out of my first 110 as there was a loose bolt rattling around. I was very nervous but to be fair the dealer got the thing back in just fine. I insisted on new screws/bolts etc as didn't want the black painted ones to look obviously undone or scratched from being undone!! Andy

I had a probblem with my Airconditioning sensor. The dealer said it was a big job and the whole dash had to be removed. Everything was put back into place correctly. No rattes squeaks or anything like that. However as mentioned in the previous post they did not use new screws but the original ones. The screws have obviously been scatched a bit. The second sensor was also faulty so they had to remove the dash a second time. No problems with the way the dash was put back. I suppose I am lucky to have a decent dealer who knows how to repair landies properly.

Ours has been out 4 or 5 times for a leak hunt. No problems every time, other than the leak persisting. I have never noticed scratched bolts, so they must have used new ones themselves.
The leak hunt is murder. Anyway our leak seems to have been resolved and no dash problems. Only thing i'd suggest is making sure they get all the sound proofing near the foot-wells at the bottom of the dash, in properly. It tucks in neatly and we had to get them to sort it. |

Mike, have they checked the screen seal,that was the cause on our TD5,after it had been stripped down time and time again. 2.4 90 XS

Mine has been out to replace the screen frame to bulkhead seal. No problems as far as I can see although there is a slight rattle now that wasn't there before ...there again I never owned a Defender that didn't develop a rattle somewhere.

there is a feature of LHD models, whereby the driver vent blows hotter than the passengers side, the fix is to remove the dash, make a change to the heater radiator and replace the dash, I've not bothered to have this done so far. interesting thread..

Ive got pics on my computer at work, it's not a bad job, just time consuming, well it's time consuming for me as everything has to be perfectly replaced without prise marks etc.

Hi BPMan, that is exactly an issue I have with my LHD 2008 SVX. Heater blowing hotter driver side than passenger side, which results in frequent arguments with my "government".... During the first winter I mentioned this several times to Autobritt here in GVA, but they pretended nothing could be done.... Can you send me the link to that feature you mention? Would be interesting to see, and bring up with Autobritt, eventually with LR Switzerland customer service... Would love to get this resolved, as in the first place I like it cooler in the car than the passengers, and right now it is just the other way around.
