What about warranty work? what happens is the dealer scopes out body shops in the area and shortlists a couple. then Landrover checks them out and gives a yay or a nay. when its a yay, that firm becomes the dealers "body shop" for warranty work. for instance the one which hillendale uses is 12 miles away from the dealership. |

A couple of years ago I took my TD5 to JE Engineering for a remap, I got mine from auction with "FSH" etc as it was an ex-police vehicle. I had allready been in touch with the workshops at Bicester where it had been based(it was used by the Firearms Squad mainly for training purposes, probably accounted for all the empty 9mm shell cases under the matting ) When the chap put it on the computer there had been no upgrades since it left the factory, now TVP policy was to send the Land Rovers in the fleet to the local dealers for full services as specified in the book. Mine, according to JE should have had at least 3 dealer changes, I have worked as an agricultural mechanic, even tractors have complex service schedules(if you think the electronics are bad on a Land Rover....)and it's easy to see where dealers can make money......"Yes sir, all done, here's all the invoices for the things we should have, sorry 'have' put on your vehicle and as you're a company employee just sign the box so we can charge what we like as far as your boss is concerned"

Thats why I have my own workshop I can see every penny I spend on my main fleet my bodyshop is 50 meters away
Oh and it helps if the "Boss" has an understanding of vehicles instead of working from an Audatex / Kerridge /Glasmatics script |

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I once went to Stratstone in hull and asked the sales woman for a quote for a 110 Double Cab in XS trim. I was told several times that Land Rover never have and never will make one and i would have to buy a Station Wagon instead. Needless to say they didnt get my business!!
