you can upgrade to 4 pin diffs. tb and gearbox are strong enough i'd say.

Any idea of what the upper limit torque wise the g/box and t/box can sensibly cope with? Road use car mainly.

Just planning a project I am doing next year with a 110 build and need to factor the transmission into the engine output.

There has been some discussion about the Puma gearbox (aka "MT82" and made in China)
Many people don't have problems... mine is crap and quite a number are replaced under warranty.
Ashcroft are beginning to rebuild the standard MT82 and may be able to provide an HD version (from the Transit) at some point in the future.

Incredibly, Ford also put the MT82 into their newer Mustangs Shocked and there are now a lot of Censored off Mustang owners with undriveable cars Big Cry See:

Ford clearly have some issues to sort out... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

speak to pete bell about either 5 cyl tdci, tdv6 or tdv8 as he's done them..well not the 5 cylinder yet on a manual box although i believe it was a D3 manual box

And IMHO autos the way to go!

Puma 2-pinion front diff is definitely NOT up to the job - just replaced my seized and disintegrated unit with an Ashcroft ATB diff. Details and photos on another thread.

Replacing the diff has improved the gearchange enormously.

The Puma's notoriously variable gearchange is greatly affected by driveline faults especially backlash. When I bought mine the gearchange was awful, a replacement clutch of the new type was big improvement but it still wasn't great, replacing worn rear halfshafts and drive flanges made a further improvement, but after changing the diff I finally have a really good gearchange; it is smooth, progressive, and doesn't snatch or clunk at all.

That's very interesting. Did you get new front and rear diffs or just the front? --
