A stock transfer case has brass components. Use only GL4 oils. If you fit an Ashcroft ATB centre diff, then you can use GL5.
If you are in an area of Canada that gets cold, I really recommend fully synthetic oils for the diffs and T/C. It makes a huge difference in friction losses. |

Power steering fluid? Just use automatic transmission fluid rated Dexron 2 or 3.
Coolant? Shell Rotella ELC - not easy to find. Only seems to be available from distributors and specialist transport tuck suppliers. Comes pre-mixed. Recochem HD Diesel ELC Concentrate - available at Canadian Tire and specialty truck suppliers. |
