Abs, Traction Control and handbrake light on
Hi, I'm after some advice. Yesterday my handbrake, TV and ABS lights came on while driving.

I've plugged my autel OBD reader in to see if it was an absolute sensor but it now can't communicate with the abs control module.

I assume that points to the abs control module having gone rather than the pump or sensors? How do I know which control module mine takes? Did this with my BMW and even though they are same year and model they all have different control.modules, are the defenders the same?

Thanks in advance

For some reason, I find Autel has issues communicating with the ABS module. I could hardly ever get codes for any abs issues. It’s just advice that it could be the reader, not the abs at fault for not giving codes.
As soon as I plugged a higher quality reader in, I had codes straight away. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

You did not state which Puma you have ! The 2.4 has a Wabco ABS unit and the 2.2 has a Bosch.

A Nanocom can communicate with the Wabco but not the Bosch.

I had the same issue on my 2.4 Puma. First thing I did was check the fuse, and for some reason it was blown. Replaced the fuse and have never had a problem since. Fuse is under the drivers seat.

Reliable ABS code reading only comes from dedicated Land Rover scanners from Nanocom, IIDT Tool (Gap Diagnostic), etc.

Same as JohnP when this happened to me - big pink fuse under drivers seat blown. Followed advice from here found chaffed cable behind master cylinder with signs of a short, fixed this, replaced fuse and all is good 2.4TDCI 90 - everyday brilliance

Early 2.4 upto 10MY have wabco systems. 10my onwards all Bosch systems.

My atuel connects no probs with abs modules across a range of vehicles including my defender. Maybe a software update needed? Cheers
