![]() So, add to the checks.... Clutch fluid. Any mechanic would be able to tell the difference in about 3 seconds whether it is engine oil of clutch fluid. So a quick pop down to see one would clear that up. Glyn ![]() ![]() |

Clutch fluid is (very) full, so if its that then it must be loosing very.
Saying that I don't appear to be loosing engine oil , Will keep an eye on both. Otherwise will leave, until Next time I go to the garage, I'll get them to check it and fix ... Will report back ![]() (assuming it doing no further damage, or is not going to suddenly let go... and leave me stranded somewhere) |

what can look like a lot of oil/fluid can in fact not really be much in the scheme of things. our 200tdi leaks from the rear engine oil seal enough to mean the chassis back from there will never rust but you dont see a noticeable change in engine oil level over the 12mths between changes (about 4k miles) Cheers

To replace or repair the clutch slave cylinder - if it's inside the bell housing, is it a gearbox out to fix this?

no, you can do it in situ, the slave will come out complete, just make sure the plastic collar comes with it! Cheers

How do you actually get to it if it's in the bell housing?

making a wild assumption that the puma one is similar to a tdi - (and i havent checked microcat on this) but if that the case the slave is bolted to the outside of the bellhousing but protrudes through and into the bell housing. undo the bolts and extract it. Cheers

Just another thing for technoBear....I I discovered again, that my Puma had further oily looking material in the same spot......but this time I have found my vehicle's issue. The nipple on the front of the prop shaft was firstly loose, secondly had lost the ball bearing in it's end. It was spraying a swath of honey coloured like stuff (thin oil) - on the chassis rail and in direct line with this lower part of the bell housing. I tightened the nipple, wrapped electrical tape around the nipple just to be sure, cleaned it all up - problem found and "fixed". I'll get it sorted next service.
Maybe if your mechanic is stumped, look into this for yours. ![]() |

Could the OP maybe give us an update on this please? I've now found that I had 2 problems. I've replaced the nipple that was throwing a liquid grease substance, but there is oil seeping from the same spot - mainly evident after the vehicle sits for a while.
I'd like to know what the mechanic found on yours TB! |
