HELP Defender 90 window going way too low
Hey friends I need some help. My right window in my D90 rolls down way too low. I noticed the drivers side has a distinct stopping point that prevents the window going too low. However the right side will go all the way until it hits the bottom of the door frame? I would love any suggestions.

Hi

Have you compared the drivers side mechanism to the passenger side one? It could be that one of the stops has bent or is missing?

Thanks Jim, where exactly is the stop? That is what I had assumed the problem is, but I don't know what I am looking for. 1989 Defender 90

IIRC, there is a tooth on the sector that is bent sideways, presumably to limit movement. But not sure. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

It may have jumped a couple of teeth down, that’s what I’d be wondering. WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

I think if you wind the glass all the way up, you would see that part of the sector gear just below the inner panel. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

That’d be it, it might have skipped some teeth, to sit a bit lower than it should.

Could be wear, and or when door slammed. Should be greased though, is it dry? WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

Yes thats the tab I refer to.

I normally grease mine. Not sure if its the right thing to do though as sometimes dirt and dust can act like grinding paste. Had gears become really pointy, but they still last me decent amount of years. A dry lubricant is probably more suited. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
