Is it loosing the radio channel presets as well?
Ps remove and reinsert the fuse for the radio, sometimes the holder can lose grip, sometimes the fuse works a little loose over time. If there is a loose fuse or bad connection that causes a High resistance it can be overcome with the engine running due to the alternator higher voltage, however an ageing starter battery will slowly drop voltage and may not overcome the HR issue after a few days. Just a thought . |

It is the original LR radio and when it loses the code nothing works. Its only when I uses the one hour on option then enter the code using the presets that the radio starts to work.
I dont understand why its only when the car is left idle for a week or so that it loses the code. The battery is almost new and is fully charged. Another thing that used to happen but doesnt happen so much now was if the radio was switched on using the ignition the sound would break up and display flash until I heard a click from somewhere behind the dash then radio would work perfectly. Check the fuse in the fuse box isnβt loose, might be a good idea.
Also, in the situation when it happens, check what voltage you are seeing at the fuse. If that checks out, then you might want to check the radio plug itself then beyond that. In the mean time, it might pay to take it out to have room to check these things at a later date. Voltage drops when sat, but should still be in range, so it sounds a bit to me like a high impedance connection somewhere, but there is always the possibility there is a radio fault internally.
