Which defender do you have , I.e TD5, Puma etc.
On a TD5 I think the antenna wire is Orange / Slate and on a Puma I think it’s white. Knowing which vehicle you have helps us point you to the correct wiring diagrams. |

I suspect that it is the aerial for the 10AS unit.

Sorry, by antenna I meant the 10AS aerial. According to the wiring diagrams on the TD5 and 2007 -2011 Puma it’s orange slate. On 2012 -214 Puma its white. Have a look on LRworkshop for wiring diagrams , https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams click on menu , then electrics and then pick your vehicle. The Lucas wiring code will help you narrow down to which wiring diagramo look at . https://www.jcna.com/lucas-wiring-colors-0 |

Thanks for the diagrams, they will be handy.
Unfortunately I can’t see my wire but I have traced it back to a relay in the battery compartment . As far as I’m aware LR didn’t put relays in there so much be something aftermarket. More investigations required I think |

Have you got towing equipment fitted, with a 13 pin socket. I’m sure the green/white is used to trigger the relay, to give a 12v switch live to the tow socket. I may be totally wrong, but worth a look,
Ashby Andy 👍🤔 |
