Coolant Loss and "shunty" gearbox.
Sorry, just realised this is absolutely in the wrong place 😑

New 6cyl 3.0 Diesel. Only covered 2.5k. That seems like a lot of coolant lost on my father's 90. He's been to the dealership. Booked in Tuesday for a check. Won't provide him with a top up. He's too concerned about buying an incorrect coolant as I believe it's SiOAT and nothing seems to come up compatible locally.

Dealer suggested topping up with water. No thanks.
"Yes... They all use coolant...it's normal" No it isn't.

Gearbox also has a clunk, a shove you feel in your seat when engaging drive and setting off. Also rolls back on hills about 30cm. Are they meant to hold position? Again, "they all do that" from customer service.

A brand new 60k motor. Seems worrying to me.

Thoughts and advice? Even if it's directing to a safe coolant. I have some Comma G40 OAT (Pink)...not sure.

The JLR Spec for coolant is: STJLR.651.5003

Not so much, but something similar happens around here... although not as low, it only went down halfway between MAX and MIN in 15,000 km, I didn't see the problem with topping up with distilled water as the dealer advised me, taking into account that the Havoline XLC coolant, esp.STJLR.651.5003, is a lot of liters and that it is diluted at 50% and, in addition, that it only needed 150cc to reach the MAX level, I don't see the problem in that, I wasn't worried about the matter anymore and there, in the MAX, it is still several thousand km later. Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

Thanks for the feedback. We'll it's been topped up today at LR. Will keep a check on it. Diagnostics not throwing anything up with the gearbox. The rolling back issue is because the hill start feature wasn't activated Laughing I thought all autos held position when in drive on an incline?
