Guys quick question. If you need to change the swivel pins once the death wobble has started and you've checked all else is as it should be, is it standard to just change the pins themselves or is it likely I'm going to need to change the whole thing?
Don't want to give myself more work than I need to as I've so much else going on if I'm honest. 05 Alive tuned TD5 110 Defender 73 Fiat 500 F 53 Massey Ferguson TVO 92 Kawasaki ZZR 600 97 Ferrari 456GT www.maranellohouse.com |

Have you checked the tracking?
That was the issue with my 110 causing the death wobble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------110 CSW |

Panhard rod bushes too. especially with bigger tyres can cause it.

Or even the tyres.
Replaced AT2s on front with Coopers ATs, wobble gone. Was planning to do the swivels when it got warmer. I had checked everything else and thought it was them. The coopers have made a big difference. Always good to strip and check though, straight forward job. Good luck. |

Thanks for helping guys, very appreciated. I have checked everything and that's what's lead me to the swivel pins so was hoping I could buy the pin and bearing kit rather than have to pull the lot out and do the shimming etc. If comes to that I'm not going to do it myself, I really don't have the time at the minute. 05 Alive tuned TD5 110 Defender

Or even the rims. Depending on the balance machine they use a bend/wobbly rim can stay undetected and on the car the inside of the rim is not as easy to spot |

Would the steering not be wobbling all the time if it was a wheel? It doesn't do it all the time, its usually around 50mph and on throttle lift.
Jacked it up today and there is no play at all in each wheel which now has me completely confused. Steering Damper is fine as I had it out today to get the sump cover out to get to the starter to replace it. 05 Alive tuned TD5 110 Defender 73 Fiat 500 F 53 Massey Ferguson TVO 92 Kawasaki ZZR 600 97 Ferrari 456GT www.maranellohouse.com |

I know others may not agree. But pull the track rod ends off and how do the swivels feel?
Loose? Ok? Tight? If loose pull the pin out and see what spacers are in there. |
