There should be a foam strip to fill the gap. I used high density foam that will not absorb moisture or rot. Take off the sill, clean it all up, apply the foam and replace. Mine looks as good as the day it went on some three or four years ago.
I used foam that was wider than the gap so it compressed for a nice neat finish. |

joint sealing tape used when fitting windows ("Kompriband"), self-adhesive, comes compressed to 2mm, expands to 15...25mm in a few hours

Dont want to hijack, but since it could be relevant…. I recently removed the sill panel, and the foam was stuck to both the sill and the sill panel. Needless to say, it tore apart in the process. So my question is where did LandRover stick it to? The panel or the sill? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I'm on my 2nd 110 and both just have a gap, did not know there was meant to be an infill strip.

I had my 110 from new.... It had the foam seal as strip, it was black and I'll fitting, didn't take long for it to start falling off.
I just scraped it off with a thin wooden spatula type thing..... Now with Bowler sills and no seal |

Thanks for the reply.
Kompriband seems like a solution that might be best for what I'm looking for. A door that extends over that area would be a nice option as well. I'll update when I finally tackle this. |

I dunno is it ready so bad? Panel gaps are part of the package.
Never really noticed it, but it's the same on mine (and my Series). The door seals on the frame, the sill is just "decorative" |

I don't mind it from an aesthetic perspective but stones are lodging in the gap and scratching which equates to eventual rust and living in Vancouver, where it rains a lot, want to avoid any way moisture can get in the vehicle.
