Intermittent power power loss 2.4tdci
Having problems again!!!
Intermittent loss of power when warmed up ticks over fine starts fine after but struggles to rev over 2-3k like fuel starvation when more fuel is needed.
Some things done over past couple of years:
New fuel pump
New injectors
New egr
New map and maf
New fuel filter holder
New timing chain.
Silicone hoses

Happens out of the blue just kangaroos then slows down wont rev above 2-3k rpm then seams to clear after a few minutes, puff of black smoke at times and when it is doing this.

Have you changed the VCV ? Do you get any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s).

Vcv would of been changed a couple of years ago, not getting erratic tick over so thought it would not be VCV as it sits well on tick over.

Check for DTCs and if none change the VCV.

Given you have changed the injectors and the fuel filter, what’s the wiring like to the injectors ? as I’m thinking the P121C code is pointing to the culprit.

I had a similar issue with mine, I would be trundling along and it would just lose power and acceleration would be extremely sluggish. If I pulled over, switched the engine off then on again the problem would go away for a while. In my case it was the turbo actuator that was at fault.

Actuator seams ok have been putting some light oil for a few months and there is movement. The problem happens when you put your foot down and it is like limp mode. If I pull over and try to rev struggles to go above 2000rpm.

Update, Indy has had a good look as the problem was not happening all the time and took it home to give it a chance to heat up and it happened, like the ignition being turned off.
Fuel pressure checked all fine but they did hear a buzzing coming from engine bay when switched off, it was the solenoid on the EGR no codes for the egr and it has been going through them!. Have had new egr and stage 1 Alive tune and blank and 700 miles of no kangarooing!!🤞

Glad you identified the issue. It’s really weird that you did not get any EGR based codes as EGRs in the vast majority of cases do trigger DTC’s if they develop a fault.

Well 700 miles fault free is encouraging..and i hope that is it..
My only concern would be that it is quite usual to hear the egr valve cycling on a lot of vehicles when the ignition is turned off.. just a cleaning process to help prevent carbon build up on the valve seat...

The egr was cycling when switching off but there was a buzzing from the solenoid after the cycling👍
