Egr fault
I have just replaced head gasket and Egr cooler and valve on 2013 puma 2.2.
Before startup it is throwing up codes P0486 and P0487
The engine runs but the engine light remains on.

Connections look good on the Egr valve and I have also tested it on the old valve (the valve itself was fine) but still shows the same 2 codes. All searches imply that it could be a wiring issue. Very difficult to trace back. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just to add the new Egr valve and cooler was fitted and run before the HG was changed. It didn’t throw any faults.

id start by going round the engine and disconnecting all the sensor / actuator connectors. maybe even check the codes as you do it..clear and retry at each one..many will share the 5v supply and ground and a fault on the wiring on one could pull others down...if you haven't already done this..

Follow the harness through the engine compartment and see if it is trapped, damaged, rubbing, etc.

Have you plugged in the 6-pin throttle body connector, easily missed?

The P0487 code relates to the throttle body.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Completely missed the throttle body. Many thanks . You are a lifesaver. All faults cleared.
