Hello,
Looking for a second opinion on this: Click image to enlarge Stop safely Electrical fault detected This appeared last week after a first start up, I had just put the heater on and auto lights on. Switched on and off a few times but didn't change. I checked with a meter and it was showing only 11 volts when running. After a few starts and opening doors it was showing a low voltage message. I'm annoyed because I forgot to plug it the scanner before Land Rover collected it. I was expecting them to say the alternator was at fault but they're saying it needs a new battery. Can a bad battery cause the alternator to not 'trigger' and start charging? Any advice appreciated. Thanks |

Funny mine didn't show a low voltage until it was running for awhile.
I've done lots of google searching today and read someone had a DC/DC converter and battery issue which resolved it. The Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) issue seems to be on later models and I checked my VIN online which shows no recalls. I find it hard to believe a new battery didn't last 3 years?! |

I had this with my P400 the day after I bought it.
That same day a recall was announced for the software update for the “alternator” (no longer called alternator and too early to remember the correct term) Since I had the update done, no issues at all. |

Thanks Fifth Horseman, very useful sounds exactly my issue.
The garage told me last week they thought it was now the DC converter but haven't heard anything since. |

Are you sure the brake fluid doesn’t need topping up to the maximum mark, if it isn’t it’ll send signals back to the ECU of brake faults.
It does this on a Puma, so might be a thing to look at anyway.. You never know. GBR ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

The latest from the garage is new DC converter to be fitted next week. Will update how it goes.

Mine was trailered off on Monday with same suspected fault. Totally dead battery.
Awaiting full diagnosis from main dealer 6 months old and 3500miles. Ridiculous MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many Range Rovers and Land Rovers over the years 😂 1949 80" - still in family since 1975 |

Mine got flat bedded back to the dealership as it came up with the electrical fault detected, couldn’t continue the journey. Defender 110 is under 2 months old and been told its the dc converter which has gone and that its on back order and could take 8 weeks. Got told that there is a fair few in for the same problem.

Bad batch of converters? Never had an issue with mine in two years/18,000 miles. l very rarely use the stop/start though. Could this make a difference?
Will probably fail once out of warranty |

If it's 2 months old from new then you can simply reject it. After 6 months it's a lot trickier MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many Range Rovers and Land Rovers over the years 😂 1949 80" - still in family since 1975 |
