My opinion,

They should build a v8 manual.

Sort out the suspension to make it more road biased and sell it as a cheaper alternative to the G Wagon.

If you look at the top end of the market it is a hell of a lot healthier than trying to compete with the Chinese when it is a niche vehicle. Not cheap enough to be a work vehicle but not exclusive enough to appeal to nobbers.

The waiting list for chunky 4x4s with daft engines and big price tags is healthy, Octa, G Wagon and nobbers seem to love driving this sort of vehicle around towns.

In Holt, Norfolk yesterday there were 3 G Wagons and 2 V8 Urban Defenders, highly polished, not a bit of mud. Not drug dealers but UFL bods.

I think a LOUD Gren would sell well to that market.

Like I say my opinion.

I really appreciate the original ethos behind the Grenadier and the thought that went into its engineering design and implementation. However because Ineos could not buy the rights to the iconic Defender they ended up with a non iconic looking vehicle that side on reminds me of a 20 year old Japanese Nissan Patrol, Isuzu Trooper or Toyota Land Cruiser, and front on looks ugly with that huge protruding bumper.

The top end G Wagon and urbanised classic Defenders with big v8s installed have that iconic look and history coupled to all the top end “enhancements”. This is what that small but lucrative market demands. Given the Grenadier is a new body design and has no history it can’t be iconic, and in my view never will be in the way the old defender and G Wagan are. So I really don’t see the Grenadier moving into the top end G wagon / urbanised V8 Defender market.

just to let you lads know, the builds for these have started to jump right up, and its looking like its going to continue to pick up, from the forecast. The lad who was working with me, has now back assembling some parts for these now. I am going to ask if we make more left hand model parts than Right hand, just to give us lads some idea on where these are going. Also id love to give you lads photos of some of the parts we make for these, so that we can say, one of our own makes the bits for these, and you can point to it on the car. Good news proctor.

I do hope it holds its head above the water.

Good to know where quality parts come from.

I'm not sure it is. I popped into to Ineos in Portsmouth. As of Saturday (not sure which), they no longer sell new Grenadiers and like other dealers have withdrawn from the dealer network. Originally the selling model was agency but Ineos has now pushed the wholesale model onto the dealers, hence quite a few have withdrawn.

The ramp up could be as a result of the wholesale model with the remaining dealers now having to take vehicles.

On the other front the vehicle looks much better in the flesh. Didn't drive it but had a good look around.

Sorry to ask, but what is the difference between the agency and wholesale?

The way Jim is passing through Old Trafford at the moment, I’m surprised he hasn’t sacked all the dealers to save money Rolling with laughter

Agency is where the manufacturer sells the vehicle and the dealer recieves a commission. Mercedes and Volvo operate this way, Landrover and VW tried and have gone back to the Wholesale model.

Wholesale is where the dealer group buys the cars and then sells them on.

Thanks Thumbs Up

I can understand why a dealership set up as an agent won’t be too chuffed having to sell vehicles from a wholesale agreement.

that will have been down to the INEOS production coming to a halt, and there will have been no new models at all built at all, until production has kicked off, the last time we made parts, was before August. So there will not be anything out there at all, there have been orders in since November last year for parts. Which we are starting to get out of the door, only small at the moment, been a few rumours though, about them bailing etc. But that was put to bed, due to what was shown to TLs, but then again all that can change Thumbs Up We didn't really have big orders for these, compared to nissan stuff, its worth a hell of a lot more than nissan profit wise Thumbs Up to me i hope things does come back on track again, as its work for the me, and its another factor for the northeast. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
