My 90 V8 Project - the story continues...
Hello all,

We are Martin and Carola, car-crazy people, new members here, new 90 owners and it's all because of you! Very Happy

When we decided after 15 years of fun and amazing memories to sell our TVR Tuscan and go to the other extreme and find an old Defender to make new memories, Martin was the one in charge of the research and he came across Defender2.net! Without you guys we would probably have never done it Bow down

It was not only that we found lots of advice, hints & tips, and great stories. We also found https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64148.html and @rallyesteve.

Martin was intrigued. I was in love!
We followed Steve and Andy's thread and when the 90 came up for sale, we simply couldn't resist. In July, I finally jumped on a train to collect the car and drove it all the way back home to Exeter with a big fat smile on my face.

We promised Andy to use your forum to keep him (and you if you are interested!) updated about what we are doing to the car and share the adventures (well, and maybe also one or the other challenge we will run into).

As you would expect, Martin is the one who will do most of these things. I am the assistant who hands him assorted tools but mostly I'm just driving the car and having fun with it. I will also be in charge of this thread and its photos. Please accept that I will refer to the car as 'him' - cars are male in German and it's the one thing I can't shake off!

Our thoughts so far:
Keep the outside less than perfect (so any scratches don't cause Martin to have a heart attack)
Make the inside nice with leather seats, cubby box, but usable with muddy boots
Keep him a pickup, he's just too cool to become a van!
New springs and shocks
Bypass the swirl pot (we won't race him upside down)
Fit anti rollbars

So, I think this should do for now.
Lots to do, lots to think about! We will keep you posted

All the best
Martin & Carola
