Cranks and catches, won’t start. Later it will.

Hello guys. 1994NAS defender 90 V8. Engine cranks and catches but does not start. I smell gas. When I turn the key, I hear the gas pump. But if I let it sit for an hour or two, the car will start on the first try. if I were to head off with a whole bundle of different replacement parts, what would you recommend those to be?

Is this from cold or hot?

Always handy if you know someone with a similar V8, either RR or Defender, and do some parts swapping.

First call for ignition component checks would be the ignition amplifier and distributor cap. Both are top candidates for starting issues. JB
