check this video : ?si=XEqLZl1VD_-Rcxmf
and don't forget to ask your tuner to map the EGR out (electronically closed) otherwise you'll get the MIL light on /Mat |

You don't actually need any blanking plates, since you have to disable to EGR in software, however it is sensible to fit two blanking plates to protect the engine against a leak in the EGR cooler, which, without two planking plates, will either leak coolant into the exhaust or into the inlet manifold. I note in the video (or in as much of it as I could be bothered to watch) that the presenter conspicuously failed to point out the illegality of modifying factory-fitted emissions equipment. It's hard to spot but there is an element of risk which it is worth being aware of. |

Hi,
Yes funny you have said that actually, I have had a quote for someone to come and remap the engine and also apply the EGR software, he hasn't mentioned anything about blocking it off. |

If you do block it off at the ingress and egress of the cooler , then map out the EGR. Then removing the two coolant hoses from the cooler and joining them together (with joiners and a short length of hose ) will ensure no coolant can get from the cooler to the engine , and no crud from the cooler can get into the coolant if the cooler fails.

The only downside of that is it is visible in the event you have an eagle-eyed MOT tester or VOSA examiner. It is almost impossible to spot the blanking plates however.

Ok, Thanks Again all for replying - If i Cap it off At location 4 I take it this can be done without removing anything else from the engine ? Looks like its going to be awkward to fit

I put a blanking plate in and added a simulator. Works a treat and invisible as it’s all still there.

Can you run the engine without any harmful side effects with just the blanking plates fitted and no Egr delete being performed? I know it will cause a engine light to illuminate on the dash but ignoring that is it ok?

Any lights on the dash will cause an MoT failure.

Yes, just wondering if I run the plate up to getting the delete done!

If there is feedback..ie closed loop type control blanking without deleting would cause at least running issues and if suspect generate a fault code..
During egr operation the system would demand a lower mass air flow as the charge would consist in part of exhaust gas.. Early transits could be blanked without codes but not the later ones.. You can always just try it if you have the time👍 |
