Air conditioning rad/condenser?
Got quite a bit of corrosion around the Air Con 'condenser' mounting brackets, I bought a new stainless steel frame and 4 brackets.

The original brackets are each fitted to the core with 4 pop rivets, I'm wondering what they are actually attached to and if I'm in danger of damaging or destroying the core by interfering with them?

Sorry if this sounds a bit lame but the cost of a new core is significant in my world Smile A man with no boat is a prisoner

You will have to be careful drilling out the rivets. It would be easy to also drill through the condenser which would blow your budget.

I hate to say it but the cost of the stainless frame would have probably been the same as the aftermarket condenser/rad. They attach without the need for a frame.

I have done it to mine, although I galvanized the original brackets, as stainless can promote galvanic corrosion.

It can be intimidating to drill the rivets, but as long as you keep your drill as perpendicular as possible, and set drill bit all the way in chuck so its short and you cannot reach the intercooler, you will be good. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks! I was wondering what the rivets are fixing too? Is there a plate on the core itself that the rivets hold on to? A man with no boat is a prisoner

Yes, there is a plate that is welded to the core. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
