DPF differential pressures & other info
Hi.

Puma 2.2 MY 2014, 28k miles.

Been having a few concerns about my DPF. Had a specialist around with all the kit.
Differential pressures were very low (1.7%) but DPF showing around 70% full.
Specialist said that this is fine as pressures are low.
Bought some fuel additives - WEPP 2132-300 and BG 245 from the same guy.

Will see how these go but have been thinking about getting one of those bits of DIY plug-in kit that gives you info from the engine management system.

I think they’re widely available but not sure which ones to look at.
Can anyone give me any pointers or advice?

Thanks.

Not sure exactly what you mean by concerns..given your differential pressure is low..
We had a discussion on this topic a while back on a thread and think its safe to say you don't want to be getting wound up by the scan tool data on % soot loads as long as you are regenerating and it falls ..
The pressure across the unit is a far better guide ..
My torque app did give temp readings on the exhaust but sorry I can't remember if it gave the differential pressure data..it is listed in the data available , but can't remember viewing it..

DPF fills up and burns out : 20 ... 90% in one cycle
That's for normal use.

You're @28K - so your DPF will be fine for another 100K - at least

You cannot deduct its life expectance from sensor (ECU) data.
But you may display these data with a Nanocom.

Thanks for the replies on this - and apologies for any confusion and my lack of insight into this subject.

Can anyone tell me whether there is anything that is dash-mountable that provides realtime data for things like oil / water temperature, DPF pressures/status... etc?

Thanks.

I use a scanguage, but there’s also ultraguage, or you could use an odb2 dongle & app.

I have a scanguage which I use to display coolant temperature, oil temperature, soot level & battery voltage.

Lots of posts on here about these.

Many thanks, really helpful.
There seem to be a few different models of Scan Gauge - is there a Puma 2.2 specific compatible version or are they all compatible?

I’m specifically looking for the DPF data (soot level and differential pressures) but would also use MPG and oil temp, etc.

I have the scanguage 2, which is a few years old now. In relation to the DPF specifically it only gives me the soot level. However it also shows the exhaust gas temperature & EGR angle, so I can see when an active regen is happening.

This page has the details for programming "x-guages" specific to the puma 2.2.

If you come across a small device suitable for placing on the dash that displays additional DPF parameters, such as the differential pressure, I'd be really interested to hear about that.

Warning: Monitoring the soot level & miles between active regens can become very addictive! Very Happy

Many thanks. I think I'll see how things go. As you say, some things are better unknown and having something like this might become a 'distraction' for me!

I'll hang on to this information and see how it goes. Thumbs Up
