insuring new D350 X difficulties - what cat immobiliser?
My father has a new D350 on reserve at the local dealership, but first wanted to double check insurance prices before we go any further with the purchase.

He used to have his insurance with the NFU but that ended in aug 22 - he has since been using a hire car with the insurance included, apparently the NFU will carry over his NCB as long as we can prove the insurance from the hire car. The only thing they're getting stuck on is what category immobiliser is fitted from factory.

The dealership isn't able to confirm this but think its cat 1, in which case we need to have a cat 2 independently fitted in order for the NFU to be able to insure us.

Does anyone know what cat immobiliser is fitted from factory?
Does anyone have any recommendations on which fitter/make of cat 2(or higher) immobiliser to go with if needs be?
Lastly, is there any recommendations on another insurance company to try?

Thanks, Dean

My wife has a Velar and in her incontrol account click on SECURE TRACKER, under THATCHAM click on view certificate.

It then shows the Certificate of Installation document. This is personalised to the owner and vehicle so I won’t copy and paste it here.

The part I will share is

System model Land Rover : Secure Tracker
Security Serial Number 106VIKEB05213
THATCHAM Evaluation No : Cat 6 TTS -1101/0913
SOC Ref No : JLR/F/6778

This of cause can be sent to the Insurance company.

I would have thought that the dealer could get this for you

I hope that this helps you.

Regards

PS, it’s a 22 model

Thanks Mark,

That helps a lot, I think the people I'm speaking with at the nfu are getting things slightly confused and as the dealers aren't sure what they want either.

I'll have a word with the dealers and see if they're able to get me that specific info for this car to send over to the nfu.

Thanks!

I believe a D350 should be a MY25, Secure Tracker Pro became standard for MY25 rather than an option over the standard Secure Tracker.
Secure Tracker Pro is Thatcham S5 which is the current the highest level of protection. Cat 1 & Cat2 have been replaced with S5 & S7.

Check with the dealers to find out if it's a MY25, they should at least be able to tell you that. 110 D250 S Hardtop Tasman Blue
