In a very old 90 with 265/75R16 mud pluggers on when its snowing with ice under you get oversteer. A 110 my be different with there being more weight on the back axle but i would say the same thing would happen, just need to push it more before the back end makes a bid for freedom! lol.

Depends if you have anti-roll bars.
Rear ARB only = oversteer (lift-off, which would be pretty hard to achieve in a Defender) Front ARB only = understeer Both/no ARBs = the wonderfully balanced normal handling of a Defender I did try to get my old 90 to slide on a roundabout in the wet (on private land, officer). It did eventually 4-wheel drift, but only once the body had rolled so much that you could only see tarmac out the left-hand window |

I did wonder about the 4 wheel slide as I watched a clip on you tube - fastest defenders - but as you can imagine none of them appeared to have standard suspension. 2008 110 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

I've drifted mine before but it's pretty hairy. Not recommended.
They do grip surprisingly well though. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Recently saw the following sticker on a trials car (not strictly accurate, but fun):
Understeer = You see the wall you’re gonna hit Oversteer = You don’t see the wall you’re gonna hit Horsepower = How fast you hit the wall Torque = How much of the wall you take with you Peter |

I find you can get over, or under steer depending on the speed and amount of volume you are exerting.
Four wheel drifting is a great hobby and well worth a practice. But don't worry your bum will fail way before it tips over, I have tried Andy |

How many owners will be practicing their drifting skills on the local Morrisons car park on snowy icy evenings...

Morrisons?! I say old chap, we don't take our Land Rover to such peasant hangouts... Mind you, the M&S car park is a bit small... Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

To decide between understeer or oversteer, the defenders steering would need a thing called direction power instead of suggestion question, which is what you usually transport as wish to the steering. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Quite agree bpman, Defenders are not for fast driving, but occationally a corner tightens or is sharper than you expected, so a little knowledge gained might save me! Where's that lovely snow! Fiddlesticks - messed up the quote 2008 110 XS CSW Stornoway Grey |
