Poor running and temp gauge drop
Hi all,

My defender 2.2 tdci is intermittently running terribly.

Symptoms are, hesitant, surging, rattly noise from engine and a temperature gauge drop from normal to a quarter then back up to normal. The rattle, hesitancy and surging coincides with the temp drop.

I have changes the fuel filter, coolant, heating working fine, water pump seems to be working fine as pressure out of the bleed valve near the heater matrix.

Its getting worse and more often however it occasionally runs fine.

I have checked the error codes using a simple reader and non shown.

Help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Rover

Not sure if a dedicated tool will show other TDCs.

Have you checked connection for the coolant sensor?
Any means to look at the EGR operation?
Fuel filter condition
Battery connections
And the rest of the egine sensors. Puma 110" SW

Hi MK,

Thanks for the reply, I have changed the fuel filter, checked battery connections.

I am trying to book it in for a diagnostics technician to look at but the Christmas Holidays have not helped.

I'm hoping its something silly and cheap.

Regards,

Rover
