Problem between 2000rpm and 3000rmp
I have had a problem with my tdci 2.4 for a while now:

When the temperature gauge just comes out of cold and is not yet fully at operating temperature, I have a problem between 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm. The engine then makes a strange noise.
Especially when the car is loaded or has a trailer attached to it.
I also see that the combustion is not good. Occasionally black smoke comes out.

I have already done the following:
Turbo replaced last year
Replace injector seals
Inlet manifold cleaned
Replace glow plugs.
Replace map and MAF sensor.

Can anyone help me with what I can do about this problem? Landrover series3 109 1980-1999

Black smoke is a sign of over fuelling, is there any air input restriction at all? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Can you describe the "strange noise"? Is it a whistle, shriek, or farty noise by any chance?

Check your turbo, exhaust manifold gaskets would be my suggestion.

It's more like a sputtering.
I replaced the turbo last year with a replacement turbo. There's no play in the turbine. I think it could be the wastegate.

Or the injectors. Landrover series3 109 1980-1999

Try dripping some light oil on the turbo actuator pivots, and see if that makes any difference at all and if the vanes are free.

Presumably the Turbo model number and all serial numbers match the original? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I'd be concerned if it was the waste gate!

There isn't one on a Puma.
