D300 4 year service cost?
How much are people paying for the 48 month service at a main dealership? Just got the first message that mine is due. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

This is Land Rover in Ayr that seems to be the cheapest around here (also Lookers and Pentland locally).

EDIT: Which is nowhere close to you, but at least gives you a price indication.

Double what you've paid for a service from a main dealer where you are?

32K service oil and filter ..... £480 ,,, by independent garage who employs all ex-dealer staff. And they have the full diagnostics package, sold to them on licence by LR direct.

When I was booking my 42K service with Lookers, I was asked if I had a service plan, I don't and was quoted £865, but with the hard sell to buy a service plan for two years. Explaining that I would only have the car another nine months or so and clearly not worth my while, barely slowed his sales pitch!

After the call, out of curiosity, I went to Landrover website, looked up service plans, saw they do a one year plan (covers one service) for "only" £707. Bought it and promptly called Lookers back to advise I now had a service plan and would they confirm my forthcoming service booking was now covered, yes they could already see it on the system, paid for and all good for the coming appointment.
When I asked why they hadn't pointed me at this money saving 12 month deal, he promptly tells me "you can't get a one year plan", I ask him if he can see my contract on the system, yes he can and its for one year he confirms, but then repeats that I can't buy that for one year.
At that point I thank him for his time and hang up as I do not have the patience for where that phone call was going!!

Ah, the joys!!

Isn’t that pretty much the same kind of schedule as the Puma? Every other year, so bi annual.
Normally a basic or B service, then an A service, a full service, and then back to a B after that alternately.
But that depends on if you do high miles, if that is the case then might need to be more frequent.

I tend to go by period of time, rather than miles, as miles vary, so it’s easier to keep up with dates / year. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

£2,200 for a service on a mainstream vehicle

What does that include?

I guess at over £200 per hour if it takes all day then that's £1,600 labour. It's at that point when many Defenders will fall out of the dealer network and the work won't get done.

So you'll get transmission, engine and other failures and people will discover the engine needs replacing on their 10 year old Defender and "the vehicle is cr*p and Land Rover didn't build them to last"

I think I paid about £650 for the 42k service, but it was a couple of years ago so I’d expect prices would have gone up.

I am not looking forward to the 105k one, though I won’t be doing it at a main dealer for sure at those prices!

I don’t use main dealers anymore but a few still send me emails. I see some offer finance on servicing! When did that become a thing? WARNING.

That's what a 10 year old service @ £2k+ includes:

Jesus Shocked

Using genuine parts I'm guessing that an owner who is handy with a set of sockets could do the same service sub £500?

Or am I way off?

After a bit of discussion about the service and my wish to keep LR as my main brand of choice, I got a quote of £580. Original quote was £832. So a decent discount. Williams JLR Stretford. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV
