Transmission oil change isn't a five minute job. Take a look at the procedure online. Also it's fairly well hidden, removal of the undertray won't access it. You have to then remove the fibre under guard and another aluminium plate just to get to the drain and fill plugs.

And it's not just a case of draining out the old oil. There's a fairly complex process for both draining and refilling.

When I had a look it offered me a 12 month service plan, I think it depends on how old the car is, when the next service is due and how many miles you do a year.

Just had my L663 serviced at 14k miles and just under 2 years old. Two local dealers each wanted £650 inclusive of vat. Went on the service plan site as above, which would have cost £589 but to get this accepted by the dealers you need to have paid several months dd which would have taken me into Jan.
Then I discovered that ordering a service online and selecting one of the local dealers which included a drop down menu for time and date, the cost was £589 anyway.
The first service also included brake fluid change and key fob battery change (!) in addition to the oil and filters plus pollen filter.

Yes it seems common to replace the brake fluid at two years.

Same on our Suzuki Jimny.

On the Defender the braking system has to be put into "servicing mode" to replace the fluid. Not like my old Defender where you just attached a pressure bleeder to the master cylinder and cracked the bleed nipples in turn.
