the SVR's held a lot more money than the normal Range Rovers, so wondering what they are like for the Defender V8? are the residuals higher long term?

I've ordered a new D350 but have been checking out the V8s which have firmed up at the moment, probably due to not being many on the market. With the Octa starting at 140k I think the v8 will be a better buy than a d350 due to rarity.
I have the v8 already in my ftype so don't feel the need for the fuel consumption in the Defender. |

Difficult question to answer. At the moment residual are incredible.
I have bought mine in July and, just for fun, I have used the Webuy any car website last night and my Defender d250 after 5 month and 11k miles gets an offer of 3k pounds less than what I have paid for it in Jul! Quite tempted to sell! Strong residuals for the V8 as well! Difficult to read the future though. Soon the market will Be flooded with ex lease defender. From January I guess the value will drop quite a bit for the diesel, less the V8. However if I was to keep the Defender 12 months I would prefer a lease . |

We found the same as above - residuals are so good on all models at the moment, it was more value to order new than buy nearly new. TBH I have never worried about residuals on cars, it's a game you can never win, so just buy the car you want.

I’d be going V8, personally: especially with the new tax hikes coming for those engines come April. Get one before then. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Plus LR will be putting up prices at some point next year to take into account NI changes and inflation.
It is better at the moment to buy new rather than used especially if a discount can be had on a new car with the new improved spec in the xHSE. |

Just bear in mind the VERY best discount on new I saw was 5%, the deals are very few and far between. We ended up with 4% from our local dealer. |

I got lucky with the discount on a future order as Swansea on Carwow were offering 4k off which i then used to play local dealers with. One only offered £2.2k off a new car (on pcp) in the end i got 6k off and a free service on an 82k car (d350 xhse with options)- but it took a few weeks to get there.
I got the PCP discounts but will be settling the PCP within 14 days with cash Now i hear the discounts have really dropped off. |

I always use carwow in order to get great discounts. My local dealer has always matched the best offer.
At least here in Germany carwow works really well. |

Thinking again!
The last of the P525's, i suppose they would hold more value than the newer P425? i have noticed the price of them has increased since they ceased production, the quandary! Do i order a new D350 and keep for a few years? Can certainly recommend the 525!
More economical than you’d think too on a long journey Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |
