Hi
There are two per each front door. One goes into the top corner nearest the hinge and the other in the bottom corner diagonally from the first. The clear ( sometimes white plastic ) is tapped into the door, and the black part goes through the door trim when in place and the shaft tapped until flush. You are correct, and what was in before is incorrect for OE fitment but if it works 🤷♂️

You don’t need to cut anything off - just tap in flush |

The transparent part fits in the metal door skin, the plastic piece fits through the door card, and the plastic pin is tapped flush. |
