Crankshaft is 2 pins and camshaft is 3 pins according to the wiring diagrams for the 2.4.

No worries. I really hoped that sensor would give me a Zero Ohm Mr. Green I have to research if something else could still be wrong with this sensor. I'll go back to reading all messages from this thread and once tests are done will come back to you guys.
How do you actually test the wiring loom? I don't see anything suspicious, just old I guess.. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

if yours is a 2 wire sensor, ill hazard a guess that its an inductive pick up sensor and will produce an alternating sine type wave rather like a lot of the wheel speed sensors, and like them if the engine can be turned you should see a varying voltage an the multimeter... use the ac scale..
as I said mine is 3 wire and produces a square wave..as in the traces I posted earlier...

It's probably a Hall effect sensor so a multimeter won't be much help.

I was under the impression that with two pins it had to be a magnetic sensor. I think I‘ll just bring it to the mechanic, can‘t leave it indefinitely in the street. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

A hall sensor would be a 3 wire i think..
The inductive sensor will have a coil wrapped around a magnet and produce an ac sine type signal..
Check it in the manner I suggested above
The hall will be a square wave..ie digital..on.. off

Okey, it´s a slow story, but I finally have the DTC.

P268B-00 High pressure fuel pump. Calibration /coding *error* (My translation from german, both languages not being my mother Tongue xD)

I could not plug my OBD tool so I had a mechanic look at it, he did not delete the error, not sure if it would have changed anything. We checked and there was no fuel at the return line, which did not surprise me. The Workshop I wanted to send the car to is fully busy until next april, and I don´t want to bring the car to the first mechanic that will just change the fuel pump without doing any tests before.. (Does it sound like I got ripped off before? maybe... ).

I still have a few days before we need to tow it away. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

I can't see a pump calibration issue stopping a start..
I forgotten exactly how we got on to talking about cam and crank sensors , but do recall one or two mentioning the vcv valve...did you ever change that..
If not then I'd check that you are in fact getting low pressure fuel up to the hp pump...use a priming bulb/manual pump ..and fit a new vcv..
It would be handy if you could see the rail pressure while cranking..
So in short ..try and establish you are in fact getting fuel into the hp pump..

Could the P268B-00 mean a dead high pressure pump? that would explain the no start.
But I agree with you, we could talk for ever if I don't do the tests and sensors/VCV swaps.

At the moment I am looking for a place where I can do all this, I wanted to do it where the car is, but there is really little room to play, bikers lane on the crankshaft sensor side and road 40 cm from the VCV side. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

As I said above..I don't think at pump learn/calibration code would stop a start..but that's just my opinion..
I'd make a record and clear the code ..and then again as I said above try ad establish a fuel supply to pump, having changed the vcv , and see if the rail pressure rises while cranking
That's where id start.....

Unfortunately it’s not uncommon for VCV’s to not work out of the box, you never know.

Most are fine, but it has been known for that to happen.

I'm not sure if the op has changed the vcv from the initial suggestions in this thread??
We ended up talking crank and cam sensors...and it's all a bit confusing and probably misleading now..
One thing at a time and I'm inclined to think the vcv suggestions initially offered would be the best place to start given the restricted diagnostic ability..
