The lights should come on as a bulb check on ignition. If it was one light not coming on a failed bulb could of course be the problem, but for all three to have failed is not probable. Also it seems the ABS is not working so that would mean the light should be constantly on, maybe also the TC light. In Sweden this would be a MOT failure. That could be a motive to hide the light. Although the bulb check would also be a fail if the light didn't come on. The same goes for the Check Engine light.
I don't understand the fault codes but are they connected to engine/emission management? Could they trigger the Check Engine light? Seatbelt light? Never seen in a Defender, but yes the symbol is there, but there is no system for it. |

News from my Defender... =[
Today i took the car to a specialized place, and they found that the previous owner reprogrammed the car's modules precisely so that no light errors would appear. Now they need to restore the configurations of the car, and after that have a correctly read errors and problems. |

Why not follow the last option and remove ABS. The stuff is 15 years old and I wonder if all parts were still available... |

I've recently been contemplating this. Or at least installing an off switch to disable it when it's causing issues like it is with my truck at the moment. Doing the 10 steps on the brake pedal before starting does not always work apparently.
I wonder though if disabling the TC will affect the performance of ATBs installed. They supposed to work perfectly when working properly. Will just ATBs alone and probably tricky left foot braking be sufficient to overcome no TC? No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy |
