In relation to the front undershield, the genuine LR one comes with a different (larger?) crossbar, hence the need to remove the bumper and longer installation time. Some other front accessories, like the front expedition protection system, require the crossbar, so if you are considering them maybe the LR undershield might be the way to go

Thanks. Will keep that in mind. I see an aftermarket front under shield from defender retrofit that looks the same as OEM with crossbar and is painted black https://defender-retrofit.uk/product/defen...hield-oem/

Very happy with mine Thumbs Up

Are these better in quality of other aftermarket steps? There are other steps for less than half that price

Yeah l love mine as well, but in my enthusiasm made the mistake of buying various accessories that l decided l didn't really need, such as the rear door table, rear spoiler, front under trays, spare set of wheels etc

Ah easily done. I’ve been planning this for a while now and SWMBO needs a brief on everything so sadly I can’t get too enthusiastic or else I’d have this https://newdefendermods.com/collections/al...h-brushbar on the front with offroad tyres!

I don’t think I would ever get a spoiler. I think they look atrocious and have zero purpose on a very purposeful vehicle.

Rustrpoofing. Not much is on show due to shields but I’d used XCP on the front and rear subframes etc.
Remove each wheel and spray and wipe etc.
One bottle is enough.

Cool. Sounds interesting. Do you have examples and photos of what you’ve done for your L663?

If you go to any of my posts, at the bottom it has a 'tab' named Gallery' Hit that and then at the top of the page is has another 'tab' Thread Uploads, hit that and there are 19 screens of various photos I have posted on the L663 forum.

I buy Land Rovers, as a base vehicle, I add the accessories that I want.
Yes you can buy the 'add-on', but other owners car build the same vehicle as you build.
You can buy the accessories and modify they to suit your requirements.
I build my own accessories, and if other want the same, sorry I only build for myself.
If I want to modify part of the LR built vehicle, I do it myself.

We should not build clones of someone else, otherwise the vehicle stops being yours.

I have a background in engineering/mechanical and electrics with electronics.

Go explore and enjoy your vehicle.

PS I built custom vehicles in the hay day of 70's Very Happy

Thanks for showing off. Very helpfull.

I have a brand new 2025 P400 Santorini black. Here is what I did immediately:

1. GAP tool
2. Xpel stealth matte PPF from local shop. They did better than factory option for same $.
3. FitcamX dash cam specifically for Defender. I used PowerfulUK console tap-in loom to power the parking mode to avoid having to route any wires to the battery. Super easy to install.
4. Hunter's V3 reverse lights
5. Hunter's rock sliders

Next up:

6. Grill lightbar
7. Garmin Powerswitch to control lights from the Defender's touchscreen with the Garmin app in Carplay. No need to route cables to the switches in the cabin.
8. CanM8 Cannect CANBUS module to provide reverse and highbeam triggers for the Garmin Powerswitch.

See attached pic of the circuit for controlling lights. The reverse lights come on when in reverse but also can be turned on manually from the touchscreen. The hidden light bar white and yellow can be turned on manually from the touchscreen or enabled to be on with highbeams.

Decided to go with ReulSports lightbar instead of the Lucky8 hidden lightbar. The LK8 is not very bright and wont work with the ReulSports hidden winch.

Projects:
1. Sound proofing and speaker upgrade:
I also intend on buying some https://standartplast.com/mx/catalog/silve...ck-silver/ to do some sound deadening in the doors for improved acoustics. While I’m doing that it would make sense to upgrade the speakers, I’ve heard 2ohm speakers are good from this thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83928.html but not sure what exact speakers to buy from BLAM. Is this what I need? https://www.blam-audio.com/en/produit/kit-l200p-power/

You can choose Blam Relax, Live or the higher spec Signature, but always max 165mm and 2 Ohm.
For the rear doors don't be afraid to chop a piece/tab of metal in the innerdoor. No Mud flaps for my 90.!

There’s a lot of questions about options and accessories no one has touched on yet. Would really appreciate if I could get folks thoughts on each question… especially those who have already contributed…

Thanks! Also brought the defender out recently for the first time offroad and it was awesome! Chuffed with its performance in muddy trails even with Pirelli all seasons! The traction control is amazing.

Loadspace partition net: very happy with mine, keeps everything in the back where it belongs. Removal or fitting is the work of a few minutes and it folds up really small. Ideal if you often need to drop the rear seats for large loads.

For the genuine LR accessories, you might find this useful for research purposes: https://accessories-instructions.landrover.com/enUSA/new-defender Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S
Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2

I think I’ve pretty much done all my research now (at least what I can justify…) I hope but thank you for sharing, it is a great resource to have
