Hello all,
I’m new to the forum here and I’m looking for any thoughts advice and opinions on buying accessories for my brand new L663 carpathian grey 110 P400e S! Never owned a Land Rover before but I think I will be part of the club now… We don’t really do much off-roading if any only because there’s very few places to do it in Ireland unless on land you own but I don’t want it to be a Chelsea tractor looking all shiny either as I think it’s too much fluff. Carbon fibre bonnets… it’s a 4x4 Offroad car!!? I like the look of the V8/ carpathian models so will try to make it look more like that but still want to retain some offroadness… I know a lot of you love the side boxes, ladders and roof racks but I have zero interest in those for now as I won’t use them and they add weight and drag/ noise/ take up space in mirrors. Anyway I’ve scoured the internet and worked out what I definitely don’t want and might want but not sure of but it’s still a bit of a list so let’s get cracking… - Gap diagnostics G4 IID Tool (probably the most useful out of all the things you could buy for your LR and can add features you would normally need to pay a couple grand for that only come in a pack like Adaptive cruise control, advanced tow assist, Terrain response 2, configurable TR, Park Assist, etc, is this recommended over the alternatives and where is the best place to buy this?) -Rubber Floor Mat Set - Genuine RHD 110 - 5 seat -Ghost 2 - S5 Tracker - Autowatch S5 Vehicle Tracker and immobiliser (will insurance be reduced with this fitted?, do you agree an immobiliser is a good idea?) -Autowatch Ghost 2 (is this the same as the S5?) -Front Undershield - Easy fit OEM Black (should I get LR genuine or is easy fit aftermarket fine? They are both aluminium so I’m not sure about a difference in quality, aftermarket can be bought in black already…) -Raised Air Intake Matte Black (not sure about this as I don’t need it. I’ll never really be going to dusty environments but it does look cool, do they improve mileage/ better colder air delivery to the engine?) - someone convince me why I need this Rolling with laughter -Rear Light Black/Smoked Cover Upgrade Kit (want to get the genuine LR smoked lights but I doubt SWMBO will have it just for grey lights unfortunately… are the covers any good or very obvious they are fake?) - Front & Rear Bumper - Black Pack - Deployable Tow Bar version (as they are different depending on if you have a towbar) (anyone know where to get genuine LR bumpers? Can’t find them anywhere it seems apart from LR direct) -Passenger Front Handle Storage Box - 110 Oe Style Side Steps black £300 (I don’t need these but SWMBO is short and wants them, are the genuine LR steps for approx 1000£ better? It seems aftermarket and LR tube are both made from aluminium but maybe the aftermarket's steps are plastic and LR steps themselves are aluminium? Should I just get aftermarket?) -Front Seat Covers Pair - Black -Spare Wheel Cover - Carpathian Grey (not sure whether to go grey or matte black) -LR153670 - Defender Lettering for Bonnet - Shadow Atlas - Genuine -LR153303 - Front Grille Insert - Shadow Atlas - Genuine -LR153689 - Tailgate Lettering - Shadow Atlas - Genuine -LR023378 - Target Tracking Decal / Sticker (for Advanced tow assist, not that I need it Smile…) -LRC9974 - Classic Front & Rear Mudflap Set - Genuine -Aluminium Pedal Cover Set (why not?) -VPLES0611 - Full Height Dog Guard and Cargo Barrier Genuine or loadspace full partition net (how heavy is this? Is it a PITA to move around/ store or is the net partition a smarter idea? We have a dog but I’m thinking more about cargo falling into the rear seats, is it possible to get attachment points to mount the Genuine LR partition net directly behind the front seats? In my defender there is no mount directly behind the front seats only in the loadspace, if there was, I could use the use defender with the seats down as a sort of van)….. -Spare Wheel Lock From 4x4 overlander (seems to be the best quality lock? Powerful UK is awesome but their lock itself is only a cheap lock apparently…) -Extended Wheel Arch Set - Genuine LRDA221-Gen-ROW -Front Lettering Template (to help with installing new lettering) -Tailgate Folding Picnic TABLE KIT for Land Rover Defender L663 - Mix Design (not sure if I need this but it might come in handy on walks and stuff for lunch/ coffee?) -Magnetic Charger for Activity Key Wristband 434mhz -2x Rear Passenger Power Outlet Splitter Looms (mine only came with 2 chargers in the rear, do I also need an actual usb c/a outlet or does it come with it from powerful?) -Twin Dock Wireless Charger (really useful installs in front of of centre console) -Dash Cam Kit Genuine VPLKV0134 L663 (should I get genuine or aftermarket, my thinking is genuine will be hidden and flush in the car) -Click+Go Base and Hook (for hanging clothes or bags on the back of the front seats) Footrest Plate in Brushed Stainless Steel - RHD (why not?) -2pc Alloy Pedal Kit (why not?) -Sunglass Holder Retrofit Kit (why not?) -Dash Cup Holder Mount (three is better than two) -Front Grille Badge for Land Rover Defender L663 - 'with ACC' type (I will buy Gap IID G4 tool from Patrick to add the ACC function myself but do I need this ACC badge with the radar? My car didn’t come with ACC obviously so I think I need this? Any ideas?) -Fixed Side Steps (Genuine) + Extra Fitting Kit for Land Rover Defender L663 (110 Model) £995.83 (genuine or not?) -Rear Reverse Light V4 / Black -Dashboard Front Air Vent Cover (prevent stuff falling down the front) -Passenger Front Handle Storage Box (ABS silicone) (for keys, wallets organisation etc) -Armrest Cover Privacy Storage Box ABS black -CHEQUER PLATE TAILGATE SCRATCHPLATE FULL COVER V2 -Apple MagSafe Wireless Charger Module kit - Rear recovery tow loops and finishers - black In general, for things like wide wheel arch kits, is the LR genuine better than aftermarket or does it even matter? Non genuine tends to be half the price but I’m not sure on quality. That said, if they were poor quality, reputable brands like powerfuluk, hunters, etc wouldn't be selling them. Some more things I will buy: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09BBK3V6D?ref...2&th=1 to help remove bumpers and trims. Magnum tyre balancing beads to improve fuel efficiency and life of tyres. Looking at the magnum online calculator, it’s not possible to enter my tyre wheel combo so I don’t know which bag to get. I currently have factory fitted Pirelli Scorpion 255/65 R19 all season tyres with LR gloss black wheels. Any tyre/ wheel recommendations for after these wear out? As I understand, 19 inch tyres are few and far between so it seems most get 20 inch for a better selection. Also, would 20 inch wheels give slightly better fuel economy and road holding? I personally wouldn’t go after 20 inch and am happy with the 19s, I think the suit the car but am I right in saying the road holding could be better with 20s? I have threads of people fitting 20inch light truck tyres which are good both on and offroad and are quite durable, but I can’t remember which type they were. Recommendations for blacks wheels too? Projects: 1. Sound proofing and speaker upgrade: I also intend on buying some https://standartplast.com/mx/catalog/silve...ck-silver/ to do some sound deadening in the doors for improved acoustics. While I’m doing that it would make sense to upgrade the speakers, I’ve heard 2ohm speakers are good from this thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83928.html but not sure what exact speakers to buy from BLAM. Is this what I need? https://www.blam-audio.com/en/produit/kit-l200p-power/ 2. Rustproofing: It’s probably unnecessary as the roads in Ireland aren’t salted like in the UK as it doesn’t normally get cold for them to be but I think I will get https://www.fmkrustproofing.ie/collections/lanoguard-products fro be safe. Any cheaper alternatives? 3. Spray some rain x water repellent on the windscreen, mirrors and windows 4. Apply Shatter X windscreen protection from stone chips and cracks Looking for: -Interested in a discreet LED light bar that could fit behind the bumper if anyone has recommendations going for a reasonable price. -black wheel caps and a wheel lock tool as mine didn’t come with one… -a suitable bike rack at a reasonable price to carry 2 x e-bikes and can fold away from door to allow access to loadspace. This is a monster post so any and all suggestions for mods or accessories, opinions or experience in what you have or what I’ve suggested here is greatly appreciated, especially from folks that have these parts already. Thanks in advance! The last time the 110 will ever be shiny! Click image to enlarge |

Nah. Its a LR, the more toys the better...
Reversing lights - first thing to do. Hunters, Powerful UK. All Terrain tyres - Just looks wrong without. Boot light - 3D make a really good one. Overland 4x4 and Powerful UK sell. Doddle to fit. Under tray - I went for the quick fit from Powerful UK. Great quality and easy to fit. Rear wheel lock - The Overland 4X4 lock is very high quality. Side steps - do a search on here. Consensus is after market. Tow bar - get fixed. I've seen too many stuck or won't deploy. Checker plate bumper protector - Powerful UK have a a good range with and without lights. Rear solid partition - genuine one is easy to fit and take out. Rear shelf - makes the boot more usable. Overland 4x4. Side storage panels for boot. eBay. Really useful. Wide wheel arch kit - go genuine. Some bits of my after market fitted, others didn't. Spare wheel support and farm jack carrier - just looks good. Wheels, tyre and fuel economy - Fuel economy is irrelevant - it's a LR with a 3.0l engine and the aerodynamics of a brick! I buy Land Rovers, as a base vehicle, I add the accessories that I want.
Yes you can buy the 'add-on', but other owners car build the same vehicle as you build. You can buy the accessories and modify they to suit your requirements. I build my own accessories, and if other want the same, sorry I only build for myself. If I want to modify part of the LR built vehicle, I do it myself. We should not build clones of someone else, otherwise the vehicle stops being yours. I have a background in engineering/mechanical and electrics with electronics. Go explore and enjoy your vehicle. PS I built custom vehicles in the hay day of 70's |

In relation to the front undershield, the genuine LR one comes with a different (larger?) crossbar, hence the need to remove the bumper and longer installation time. Some other front accessories, like the front expedition protection system, require the crossbar, so if you are considering them maybe the LR undershield might be the way to go

The Terrafirma front under shield is very good and comes in two parts. lt's a direct replacement for the original so no need to remove the front bumper etc to fit it.
Also it has a removable plate for the oil sump plug, and is much more substantial than the original LR parts. l've got one in the garage and probably won't fit it as l don't go off road, if anyone is interested. True. I actually have been driving it around for a couple weeks already. And it has a bit of dirt on it now so I love it even more! |

Yeah l love mine as well, but in my enthusiasm made the mistake of buying various accessories that l decided l didn't really need, such as the rear door table, rear spoiler, front under trays, spare set of wheels etc

Wheels, tyre and fuel economy - Fuel economy is irrelevant - it's a LR with a 3.0l engine and the aerodynamics of a brick! Yes 100%! Reversing lights - Yes will get V4 probably. Great suggestion All terrain tyres - Would like the look of but just don’t need. I think my all seasons would be grand for anything I’m likely to do and they’re 19s which is already good for that. What would you recommend out of curiosity? BF Goodrich? Boot light - mine is 2024MY so it already comes with a factory fitted rear light which is decent Under tray - yes Wheel lock - yes. Wondering where to get wheel lock tools? Am I correct in saying we should remove the locking wheel nuts on the spare wheel so it’s accessible when I need it (apart from the fitted wheel lock) Towbar - I already got the deployable. That was one of the only options I got on the car. SWMBO likes it out of the way when not in use… Bumper protector - 100% Rear solid partition - how heavy is it? It would be safer if there were items in the back but my thinking is the net weighs nothing, it’s half the price and folds down if you don’t need it but I like the rigid partition Rear shelf - good idea Side panels for boot - yes although I don’t think I have any room as the hybrid battery fuse box takes up almost all the left wall of the boot. Also the boot floor is raised which means around 150-200l of space is lost but the tax savings are massive in Ireland. Without the hybrid, it’s 2-2500€ per year road tax and the cheapest diesel is 120k € (100£) to buy new. Cheapest defender here is hybrid and is still 98k€ with no options (82k$)…. But that is a separate thread. Wide wheel arch kit - thank you for this. This was my worry with arch kits that are less than half the price of the genuine Fuel economy - Very true!!! Mine is almost 2.7 ton but actually has real air vents at the front to improve the aerodynamic coefficient Thanks for the photos! Last edited by Carpathian110 on 3rd Nov 2024 8:57am. Rustrpoofing. Not much is on show due to shields but I’d used XCP on the front and rear subframes etc.
Remove each wheel and spray and wipe etc. One bottle is enough. Click image to enlarge MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung 1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie" Many Range Rovers and Land Rovers over the years 😂 1949 80" - still in family since 1975 |

Cool. Sounds interesting. Do you have examples and photos of what you’ve done for your L663? |
