Is there a correct angle for this pickup to be inside the tank?
The pipe is clearly angled so how how should it be inside the tank? Picture illustrates my position of the pipe leaving the filler neck. Click image to enlarge |

It looks a similar position as on ours.
As long at the pick up is able to reach the fuel then it will be fine - the angle of the bend in the pick up line will feed down into the tank and scavenges fuel You can test it by sucking on the hose to see if the fuel flows. (maybe use a syringe of syphon pump as the fuel tests awful) Both of our defenders have the same and the heater works until the tank only has 1/4 left - it’s a good system as it wont drain the tank and leave you stranded. Thanks pal for confirming the position is correct. I’m getting a constant E-8 code on my new heater, I’m told that’s a fuel code or not getting enough fuel. The pumps working but not sure enough fuel is getting up there. I’ll keep at it.

you may have picked up some crud from the tank so try blowing back into the tank to clear the tip of the pick up ... i had this happen after some off-road driving ...
couple of simple things to check - Are you getting fuel out of the pick up feed ? is there fuel on the heater side of the pump ? have you ran the start up process a few times to bleed the system of air ? its not a complicated system but just needs some persistence to get over the initial set up . You normally have to run them 3 or 4 times to purge air.
Assuming fuel pickup hose is correct ID. Can you hear fuel.pump ticking away? Does it start to fire or just pump stops ticking and code appears? My old style controller has the ability to run the pump independently so can purge fuel. Would think they all have this option.

Jet,
I have the pickup pipe inserted correctly 👍. The pump is working and I’ll place inside a box. I’m going to shorten the fuel line and remove the filter. What is the correct ID of fuel line? As I have replaced the green plastic with black car line. |
