Hi All,
I decided to bite the bullet and start a 130 overland build. I have been considering making a bit more of an overland vehicle for a while. This popped up on Fb marketplace in Buckie, Scotland, so I took a risk and after speaking to the seller - its now sat on my drive. 2004 plate TD5 that lived in Northern Ireland for most of its life. Click image to enlarge Slight shout to AIC Transport who shifted it, they were a delight to deal with and cheaper than the train fare and hotel, diesel to go and get it. She's a 130 with a big old box on the back, which I am not going to keep - I want a more overland style back so the box will be for sale at some point. The bodywork is in good shape, chassis is a little scruffy, although never been welded. Interior is very battered, but it's been a working vehicle so thats to be expected. Once I have a bit more of time to inspect the chassis I'll decide if I want to replace it now, while its easier to do, or just see if I can get it blasted and galvanised. I'm planning on putting an M57 engine in her, along with a ZF 8 speed box, my knee suffers a bit with my manual TD5 110 so I want the comfort of something a little less achy, and its going to end up being pretty heavy so the M57 should give it nice bit of extra power. My 110 DCPU will still be my main vehicle, but I want to make it a bit more of a daily. |

So the previous owner gave me a bit more info.
The truck was originally built by Landrover special vehicles (as I think a lot of 130's were) - shipped to the Republic of Ireland and used by ESB - Electricity board, it was then bought by the previous owner and moved to Northern Ireland, then when he moved to Scotland it came with him. It was a steal, including getting it to me it was less than 11k. It's been used but i like the charm it has. 110 DCPU TD5 02 130 DCPU TD5 04 |

It sounds like they get hot then? The impression I’ve got is just stick it in and it will be fine, is this incorrect? |
