Also for UK people looking at pop tops I spoke to Poppin rovers at Billing who do a DIY kit for a very reasonable price and are really helpful people and no import VAT nightmares 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

The roof is on. But hey, the guy failed to include enough rivets in the set. Not like 5 too little, no, >50 aka for at least one complete assembly step. And the frame itself is slightly crooked so I have to add an additional seal to compensate for the gap. Great purchase Evil or Very Mad

Find this thread really useful.
It's interesting the cost differences and time involved in getting from standard truck to truck with pop top fitted though.

I opted to go down the drivelodge route, you drop the car in at the start of the week, pay £2650 and you get the car back at the end of the week with a beautifully fitted pop top that doesn't leak and is so low profile that most people wouldn't even spot you had one fitted...

Camelman i guess it depends what you want out of it the Drive lodge ones are great and Mick is a nice bloke and very helpful but some of us just want to struggle on our days off and are glutens for land rover punishment Laughing 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with the frame dude. what exactly is crooked on it? is it not shutting square or not sitting square to the body.

The issue could be with the hinge.

Good video from the guys, He's currently away in it so if you look on instagram you will see some stuff of it in action in the alps.

Not watched it yet, but I think that is a Poppin Rovers roof https://poppinrovers.co.uk . Anyone any experience? it's another one I haven't heard of before. British made, well priced for DIY install, uses existing roof. Could someone add it to the list on P1? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Michael from Poppin rovers is a great guy to deal with even though I don't have one of his pop tops he is really helpful so I would definitely recommend him over the drama of importing one 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

I've just watched that video of the install of the Poppin Rovers top. I was surprised to see that the main hinge looked to be a really thick piece of flexible rubber. Is that right and is that the usual way to hinge these pop tops? I'd be worried about the longevity of that. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

XVX also uses a flexible polymer hinge - from the commercial vehicle sector, tried and tested.
