Side mount ladder too short ?



found your ladder too short, can't get your leg over ?

Then build a removeable aluminium extension

fully extended, ready for use.

Stores in vehicle when not needed.

uses the same rungs as OEM ladder. Outer aluminium leg supports from my metal supplies man.

Neat, but you have to wonder why the geniuses at JLR didn't simply include a third folding section in the ladder. Could it be that it was designed as a fashion accessory rather than something intended for actual use? Alternatively perhaps the proof-of-concept tester was 6'8" tall.

The ladder then would need to be 3 section deep, which is beyond the stated width limit.
Width limit is open door mirror to open door mirror.

(PS - there no geniuses at JLR, it is left to the customer to re-engineer everything)

I don't think it would have been difficult to design a three-section ladder which fitted in the same envelope had LR wished to do it. Perhaps an enterprising aftermarket supplier will one day do so.

I agree with you re, the geniuses! Laughing Land-Rover, turning ordinary people into engineers since 1947.
