I feel 12-17% cooler with ATs.
Mileage went out the window as soon as I clicked on the LR site. Road noise is honestly not noticeable above the wind noise (actually LR have done a pretty good job of insulating the cabin). I've done a few 6+ Hours drives now and never once felt like the road noise was worse than my BMWs on road tyres. The chance of being very publicly shamed on a wet grass carpark = definitely worth the ATs! |

Agree, they do look better with ATs
 . Road tyres just seem wrong. 
I've done many 800+ mile days in mine and never even thought about road noise. They've also worn very well.  Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

What tyres have you got? Reading this post makes me want to swop to All Terrain. They just look right.
However I can hear the noise difference between Pirelli Scorpio and Michelin latitude. I just struggle to see how AT can be the same. In 1999 my Freelander came from factory with Goodyear Wrangler and on road that was the most dangerous tyre ever had under any car. A long time ago I Know… despite the name is the same I guess the wrangler is a much better tyre this days… |

The factory AT are a good tyre and pretty quiet, but they are useless for any proper off road as they’re paper thin and so very susceptible to punctures.
I also only got about 35k out of my set before they were worn out. |

Not sure if the Goodyear Duratrac is available worldwide, but I see that its available for my Defender's tire size. I've heard good things about it from the overlanding crowd over here. Not 3-peak rated unfortunately but the siping, and tire itself looks pretty good.

That looks good, very good!
I am really struggling to fined 3peak AT Tyres in UK. And all are over 250 quid each either 18 or 20. My 18” At are M+S, it would be great to finding some 3PSFM. |

BFG do their AT KO2 in the standard Defender 18” size and that is 3P rated.

I have replaced the factory GY Wrangler AT’s (standard tyre in Oz) with Falken Wildpeak AT3W,
I believe they are snow rated, but worth double checking.. Road noise is no louder than the OEM AT’s, very good in the wet on tarmac as well.. Falken are a popular tyre choice on Aussie Defenders yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

General Grabber AT3 are listed as the recommend all terrain tyre on the iGUIDE now

Go on to Ebay and buy a new set of "take off" wheels
This weekend l bought four brand new steel rims with the Wrangler A/T's for £500 Earlier in the year l bought five new take-off steel rims with Wranglers for £550 At those prices it's a no brainier. There might be better tyres but these are effectively £100 per tyre including the wheel. They are not as plentiful as the standard steel wheel/tyre as they were a £250 option on the Defender. And why would you tick that box, if you were going to take them straight off when you get the vehicle home. But they do come up for sale. |
