Latest generation Ford Transit Custom - stereo
so rather disappointingly the transit (as per the last one) does not have rear speakers fitted, nor does the head unit have a fader.
the torneo does and as you probably know they're kinda the same thing. the van rear door cards are set up to have speakers and I've no doubt the wiring is there.

does anyone know any tech wizards that can set the head unit up for rear speakers?
I'm happy to fit em - I just need the electrickery / programming sorted?

I expect the outputs are there, just not in use and need identifying.

Then run new speaker wires.

I don’t know what connectors it uses, but whatever connectors that is used if not DIN ISO, you’ll likely need matching pins if not present.

Or there could be isolated tails coming out from the rear that you can pick up on.

If you do attempt to hardwire it to fit aftermarket HU over to DIN ISO.

You’d need to be sure that other features aren’t knocked out, as some cars use the wiring for other things like fuel estimate gauges etc.

Really you could do with the manufacturers wiring schematic to identify exactly what each feed, and connector type is, but you may find and I think is quite possible that there is wiring tails there present, but not used for the rear feeds. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

my understanding is the wiring is all there and connected to the head unit.
just need the speakers installing and the head unit programmed to the 4 speaker configuration....thats where a Ford tech wizard is required Big Cry

or another wizard...my reckoning is that there may be a significant market if someone can figure out how to do it.
on the previous generation someone found the relevant line in the programming - then its a case of finding a similar vehicle with the correct line of data for the 4 speaker set-up and copying over that line of data.....or something like that Banging Head

Some car stereos the fader menu only appears when the rear speakers are connected.

I am sure I had this on an old ford.

^^ I’ve heard of that, probably detects the impedance of the load.

Are the already fitted in? If not, might be worth fitting them in anyway first and go from there. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
