Hardtop bulkhead modification
Just looking to order a Defender hardtop 90, my main concern is I’d like to be able to carry lenghts of pipe which I buy in 2.4 meter lengths, I don’t want a roof rack.
On other vans afew of them have a hole in the bulkhead under the passenger seat to allow long items to slide under, would adding said hole in a Defender bulkhead allow pipes etc to pass under the passenger seat to a length of 2.4 meters? Could anyone have a measure for me?

Thanks
Dave

It wouldn’t work I don’t think, as the floor in the back is not level with the floor in the cab, it’s about 6-8” higher. I took my bulkhead out completely. If you are regularly carrying 2.4m lengths you probably want to be looking at the 110. I carry a 7’ Fly rod in mine, and it goes from the back corner to about an inch from the dash.

See about 3 or 4 posts down this thread for the height difference: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic87927.html

Oh wow yeah it is quite a step!
I’ve got a car version of the 110 here so wasn’t sure how the 90 would work.. may have to get a roof rack after all.
It was only for occasional times when I need to nip into the merchants and I’m not in the big van.

Looking at it I’ll take out the mesh part in the middle of the bulkhead, off to the dealer this morning with tape measure in hand 👍🏼
