A Bit of Wild Off Grid Camping
Quite an impressive campsite and the drive up to it was fun:

It's in Cumbria, just south of Brampton, I booked it through off grid camp.

Saw the off grid camp lot at Malvern.

Do you think it’s worth joining?

How much do you pay for the pitch?

Smart trailer!

It's only £25 a year to join Offgrid Camp, the pitch was £25, the location was well worth it, some people might think it's a bit steep for a camping pitch with no facilities, but I'd definitely go back, and will try a few more over the next few months. Not waking up with a huge white box blocking my view was a real bonus.

Thanks for the comment about thr trailer, I should definitely get a spare wheel for it though, could have been a bit tricky if I had puntured up there.

@Bowbearer I just had a look at their website. I like the fact that as a non member, you can see whats roughly around your area to decide if you want to join or not. I'm not sure if there are any other member benefits, other than just the maps.

But @GilesM that looks like a cracking spot you found there! Lovely photo, thank you for sharing.

I think I myself sort of winced £25 for the camping pitch, but then it's peace of mind to know you're wild camping without the risk of being moved on, you're not upsetting or offending anyone, you're helping out a small business (farmer or what not) and I suppose you have in your mind you can most likely return one day without there being a big council boulder in the way, or someones fly tipped mess etc. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

I stopped there on my way down to Malvern, planning to try another one in the North Yorks Moors area on my way to Billing, will post a few pics after that, not sure if I will get any more trips in before the end of June, that work thing keeps getting in the way.

Definitely worth it to get away from the Grockles and their lights and generators.

I’ve just planned a trip starting at the lowest point, lowest road and lowest pub in England to the highest pub, point and public road. Would have been good to plan wild camping on route.

Maybe next time.

Work gets in the way of everything!

Look forward to seeing more sites.

Will join.

A few pics from another Off Grid Camp I tried on my way down to Billing, this one is close to Kilburn on the edge of the North York Moors, definitely go back.

Lots of open space, and a white horse.

Thanks for posting this. I have to say I’d never heard of this site/organisation before, but it looks like a pretty decent idea. I’d happily pay £25-odd for a good view, and more reliable peace and quiet! Donald
