Circumstances mean we won't get to use the trailer again for a while so I've begun the task of winterising it. The first job is to put it on axle stands to save the tyres from getting flat spots. It's easy enough as the thing had two jacks built into the rear legs.
The second job is to drain the water system, which I'm keen to do properly given the trials with the heater and filter described above! With the trailer slightly nose down, the main water tank is drained from a valve on the front LH corner: Click image to enlarge Next was draining the water heater. There's a ball-o-fix valve projecting from the underside of the casing but I made up a drain pipe to direct the water out of the locker, which comprised a barbed fitting and some plastic pipe. Whilst I was at it, I then installed some spring clips to the wall of the locker to store that pipe for future use: Click image to enlarge Finally, so as not to be caught out again, I removed the plastic strainer bowl: Click image to enlarge All that remains now is to fit the winter cover but I'll wait until the new tent cover arrives from Tuff-Trek before doing so, which should be in a couple of weeks. One other little job that I've completed is to make/install some fixings for the level and brace for the rear legs. These live in the battery locker, which contains all of things that are needed when setting up.
The construction of the new battery box left a slot along the front edge, into which I stuffed these two items. I wanted to stop them sliding around though, so I made a small ali bracket to retain the level and fitted some spring clips for the brace: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing?
