Probably easier to covert to a 2inch receiver and have fit the NATO hitch to that when required.
I'm going down that route to be able to fit a trials bike carrier. |

I'll dig out some photos ( and any details I have) tomorrow, but I used to have a two bike carrier sitting behind a NATO hitch on my Lightweight. Worked quite well.
It was a flat plate bolted behind the hitch with two vertical lengths of square tube welded either side. The carrier had two square tube prongs that fitted into the fixed tubes. Relatively cheap and cheerful but worked a treat. |

A 'receiver' for one of these racks came fitted to a Defender I bought some years ago. It was two vertical tubes welded to a plate that fixed behind the towbar. I recollect that it was a 'Pendle' rack but that it wasn't compatible with my door-mounted spare wheel. I subsequently obtained a carrier that had a cradle that sat over the top of the spare and was then secured to it with small ratchet straps.

Nice Lightweight Supacat
Was only thinking the other month that I had not seen one for a while now, until we went to Cornwall last week then saw two, plus an Ibex, numerous new Defenders and eight PT Cruisers (go figure, I though that they were long gone, they clearly like the Cornish air) To answer the original post, might be better to ask a blacksmith (other colours are available, gotta love the 2020’s) to make one as most tow bar solutions won’t be for the NATO hitch bolt patterns. |

Now you mention that name, it rings a bell and on checking online, I think I recognise the rack; although it appears that it's now deemed "legacy" kit and at some stage moved to circular tube. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge God knows how old mine was then if it pre-dates legacy
Simpler times. I still have visiting rights but it's some time since I last saw her. |

Hi, where did you find these pictures of the Series 1? I'm interested as I now own this car!
I've been trying to find out more about its history. Thanks, MJA |
