Defender TDCI 2.4 2009 (59) Turning over but not starting | |
Hi there,
Defender TDCI 2.4 2009 (59) Turning over but not starting
Hi there,
Currently have a Defender 110 Dbl Cab TDCi 2.4 L316 EU4 2009 .
Had an issue where starting was a bit rough for a period of time but always started, last week it decided it wont start.
Around three months ago, changed the VCV, have gone through 3 over the last couple of years. All good but they dont sem to last.
Anyway car went dead last week. Checked the Nanocom and it indicated a fault on the starter system. Checked main/relays, all good. Checked starter, general fuse check no voltage to starter. After a look further under the dash I discovered a broken spade on the back of the key barrel White red wire ( red connector). Fault found! New barrel ordered, plus fairly easy to fit new on. Placed new keys with fob. All good. First start, engine turning but not firing.
Now then...lifted the bonnett and found a wee bit of smoke on the bolt connecting the glow plug lead to the glow plugs. Went to underseat glow plug relay No 4 I think, and was warm. Disconnected power and ordered parts.New lead, full set of glow plugs and relay. Fitted all, found one relay faulty before removal doing the 200 Ohm continuity test. Cleaned inlet manifold, EGR, and engine while in bits. Plus checked MAP sensor and MAF. However surprisingly easy run on glow plug replacement after a few days of wd40. Once replaced I followed the routine of clearing faults (after noting them) set alarm then unset. Tried starting....it coughed, nearly went and then stopped. Opened bonnet, cleaned MAP again. Tried again, coughed while turning over. Every attempt since just turning over after same clearing routine.
Have tried....
Seat/Reseat relays, can hear them click also.
Reconnection of new key barrell spade connectors on the end
Disconnect and reconnect VCV connector and fuel pump sensor plug
Check battery 12.5V, plus rechange
Glow plug lights on dash
Checked IDC on dash (connecting pin 3 & 4 for loose solder joints for immobiliser - no joy
Checked fuel rail pressure - arround 120 MPA when trying to start
Fuel rail sensor Voltage notes zero also on attempted start - think it should be at least 0.5V from memory?? Changed it no change.
Tried disabling the AS10 IP, no change.
Have ordered fresh crank case sensor, PRV.
DTCs I have are as follows
P167B Injector learn (old one wont clear)
P0623 Generator lamp Open circuit
Previously had
U3000 Control Module Memory Failure
B1A74 Fuel Sender 1 Failure
B1A81 Internal Ttip Switch Internal Plausability failure
P1602 Immobiliser / Enginer Control Module Communication Error
U0401 Invalid data received from ECM / powertrain control
U2101 Control Module Config Incompatible.
Running out of ideas, any thoughts that may help would be greatfully recieved.
